How to Sell Your Own Home: The Homeowner's Guide to Selling by Owner

William F. Supple, Jr., Ph D. is publisher of Picket Fence Preview Magazine - a for-sale-by-owner real estate magazine headquartered in Burlington, Vermont, with franchised publications in several Northeastern states. Picket Fence Preview was started with the idea that private homesellers need an effective advertising vehicle to sell their properties without using a real estate agent. Many homeowners mistakenly believe that selling a home without a real estate agent is complicated and difficult. The book is designed to explain and de-mystify the process of selling a home. The author has helped thousands of homeowners sell by owner and avoid, collectively, tens of millions of dollars in real estate commissions. Therefore, this book is a resource that can help individual homeowners save large amounts of money.

The book is unique because the research came from actual homesellers describing the techniques and practices that worked in their situation. The author compiled and analyzed the information from the homesellers and generated the book.

The author received a BA in psychology from Marist College in 1981 and a Ph. D. in psychology/neuroscience from Dartmouth in 1986 and served as Assoc. Professor of Psychology at the University of Vermont from 1987 - 1995, retiring from academia in 1995. His research dealt with understanding the changes that occur in the brain that form the basis of learning and memory. He is the author of over 50 scientific papers appearing in such journals as Brain Research, Journal of Neurophysiology, Journal of Neuroscience, NeuroReport, Behavioral Neuroscience, Science and co-authored/edited several scholarly books dealing with the topic of learning & memory.

The author is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Editors and is the co-founder of the National For Sale by Owner Association, and the United States For Sale by Owner Foundation a trade group representing the interests of private homeowners and for sale by owner magazine publishers.

He has written or contributed to articles on for-sale-by-owner real estate for Money Magazine, The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, Home Magazine, Kiplinger's Personal Finance, Mortgage Originator, Smart Money, National Mortgage News, and others.
