The oldest portion of the house was probably constructed around 1770.In a deed dated 1842 the house is referred to "the mansion house".It is the next to oldest house in the village. It was first painted pink in 1951 and has to remain pink!
Construction is post and beam on an amazing field stone foundation. Exterior is clapboards, roof is shingled.
The spacious living room, dining room and kitchen are contiguous.The kitchen ceiling has exposed beams and handcrafted tile counters, most cabinets have sliders for easy access.The downstairs bathroom adjacent to a bedroom/office is handicap accessible and there is a wheelchair lift to the back door. There is a breezeway for summer dining between the house and the two bay garage. A small fenced orchard with apple trees, berries and Rhubarb. 3 acres of land is open field and the rest wooded. A small sugar bush adjoins that of a kindly neighbour who taps the trees and provides maple syrup.
