Antique Country Schoolhouse with Mountain Views. Attached two stall horse barn. Country living only 25 minutes to downtown Burlington.

PROPERTY ADDRESS

192 Nashville Road Jericho, VT

Antique Country Schoolhouse. Jericho Historical Society writes " Active as a schoolhouse until 1948, this was one of the last three one-room schoolhouses to close in Jericho. Like most schoolhouses, it has large windows on the east and west sides to capture natural light. Probably built around 1835, this #15 schoolhouse is first shown on a map drawn in 1857."

Large windows in the kitchen and living room make you feel like you are outside in the Vermont countryside. Beautiful view of the Bolton Mountain range. Great valley location. Just down the road from the original Snowflake Bentley home.

True country living, usually much more snow than Burlington, room for horses, surrounded by fields and established trees by the dirt road. Great equine property with a wonderful neighbor who rides as well. Two horse stalls in the attached barn/shed has great storage. You don't need to go outside to feed your horses or to get your firewood. Vermont Castings Vigilant wood stove makes winters cozy. Beautiful old maple floors, 2 bedrooms upstairs, cozy living room and small office or third bedroom downstairs. Well situated on the lot with a very dry housesite. The well has never run out (we even left it on accidentally for a whole day many years ago) and has ample water pressure. We considered picking this house up and moving it back on the lot where there are even more stellar mountain views, and turning the current house foundation into a barn. We paid to have the power company relocate the utility pole out of the field to leave that possibility open. This house is almost 200 years old and in need of some updates but it will feel like home. A classic older Vermont home with plenty of projects.

If you want to live on a dirt road and walk out your front door and see the snow on the spine of the green mountains in October, or if you want to have horses or other animals in your backyard, or you want amazing gardens and amazingly rich soil, and if you want to feel alive while you warm up by the wood stove after being out in the fresh, cold January air, then this is the place for you. A real Vermont country place to live with a very easy commute to Burlington, only a 25 minute drive, with easy access to the Richmond exit and the highway. This was our first home and we loved having a baby and starting our family here. My mother lives here now and It still feels like home.
